AVAILABLE CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Our Teen Leadership Program is nationally recognized and serves campers through the high school years. This program is generally filled by returning campers and can only be entered at age 14.
CAMP FACILITIES: Cape Cod Sea Camps has comfortable screened cabins with electricity in all. We offer swimming in our new heated pool. We also have a modern Arts Center for creative arts, a new Boathouse to host our sailing programs as well as an outdoor theater for camp performances. CAMP FACILITIES: Our 55 acre campus houses numerous athletic fields, an outdoor pool, archery range, auditorium, tennis courts, and numerous buildings for our specialist activities.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our dedicated and qualified staff provide daily fun and exciting activities for our campers. We have 6 specialists that lead campers in exciting and age-appropriate activities. Our specialists include Arts and Crafts, Sports, Music and Drama, Archery/Outdoor Education, STEM, and Special Events. Our Special Events Specialist leads our campers in unique activities each day, from 20 foot slip and slides, to bounce houses, to our weekly variety show.
Our camp is able to provide Red Cross Certified Swim Lessons 4 times a week to our K-5 campers. Our certified trained staff of lifeguards provide swim lessons that target the individual needs your child to help them swim.

BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: Camp Kaleidoscope provides 8 weeks of theater, art, music, science, sports, swimming and special activities, taught by professionals, in a creative, nurturing atmosphere. Each 4-week session (with flexible registration) culminates in Arts Night, where campers share accomplishments through performances and a multimedia art and science exhibit. Younger campers participate in a balanced variety of activities with their counselors; older campers choose their own schedules every two weeks.
SPECIAL NEEDS CAMPERS: All campers who require special services at camp will be evaluated to ensure the best placement possible. Please contact the camp director to set up an interview. Campers with mild special needs may be included in camp activities with their bunk, where personal attention is given to each child in a warm, supportive setting. Specialists teach classes daily culminating in art and science exhibits and performances at the end of each four-week session. Specialists are college graduates or rising seniors with teaching and/or other relevant experience. Competitive salary. Parents on staff full-time send their children to camp for free!
Counselors
Seeking mature, reliable, patient people who understand what it takes to make a camper's day a wonderful experience. JCC Kaleidoscope Creative Arts & Science Camp is a pluralistic camp welcoming the entire community. While camp is not easily accessible by public transportation, bus counselor positions are available from Framingham and Brookline. Counselors must be 18 years of age or older or high school graduates with demonstrated leadership skills and experience working with children. All counselors must be available for the full eight-week season.
Lower and Middle Camp Counselors work in pairs or groups of three and are responsible for a group of 10-15 campers entering grades K-3. They support and nurture campers throughout the day as campers attend activities in the arts, science, sports and swimming. Middle camp counselors may also assist in other areas throughout camp.
Upper Camp Counselors work with campers entering grades 4-8. They teach or assist in classes, activities and theatrical productions. Positions include: tennis and other sports teachers, costumer, assistant tech director for shows, guitar and piano teachers, boating specialists (lifeguard certification required), and crafts teachers. Upper Camp teaching counselors should have completed at least one year of college.
AVAILABLE CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: CITs in grades 9-11 are an integral part of camp, providing leadership and receiving training while also pursuing their own interests. They create their own schedule under the guidance of dedicated CIT staff. They spend approximately half the day assisting camper groups or activities, and half the day pursuing their own interests. CITs pay a reduced rate.

CAMP FACILITIES: Campers enjoy the JCC's air-conditioned, professional theater, art and dance studios, science classrooms, an indoor pool for lessons, and a zero-entry outdoor pool for free swim. Additionally, campers enjoy a dedicated gaga pit, outdoor ping pong and foosball tables, tennis courts, fields, woods, trails, and access to the Charles River. Campers may bring a vegetarian or fish lunch, or pre-order lunch from our on-site kosher caterer.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Kaleidoscope is dedicated to making camp a fun, nurturing, educational experience for each camper. Staff include well-trained bunk counselors ages 18 and up who work with groups of campers daily, and professional teachers who lead classes. Programming is organized into two four-week sessions, with flexible registration options. Registration minimum is two weeks.
All campers swim daily, with lessons offered twice weekly with our professional aquatics staff, utilizing the Lenny Krayzelburg Swim Academy methods. Each session culminates in "Arts Night," including art and science exhibits, musical performances from lower and middle camp groups, and a fully realized musical from upper campers.
Lower campers entering grades K & 1 enjoy a balanced day of arts, science, and sports activities with caring, inclusive counselors and specialists. Middle campers entering grades 2 & 3 follow a schedule of diverse activities with their groups and enjoy "choice times" when they individually choose activities. Upper Campers in grades 4-8 design their own programs, choosing activities weekly, including theater, art, music, dance, boating and more. Upper Campers who elect to be in the musical attend for a full, 4-week session. All campers attending weeks 4 and/or 8 participate in "Arts Night", showcasing their art and science projects, and performing for parents and friends.
CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Financial aid is based on need and may cover up to 50% of tuition. Financial aid applications are due by April 1. Aid is awarded by April 15. CAMP FACILITIES: The camp's 208 acres include a half-mile of shorefront on a lovely lake surrounded by wooded property where 50 permanent buildings are located. Shamlian Hall houses two dining rooms, a library, snack bar and offices.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Good News was founded in 1935 by W. Wyeth and his wife Grace Willard. A graduate of Brown University and Princeton Theological Seminary, Dr. Willard also received a Doctor of Law Degree from Northwestern University. Camp Good News is a non-denominational, independent non-profit Christian summer camp for boys and girls ages 6-15. Sponsored by the Society for Christian Activities and founded in 1935. Counselors are the heart of Camp Good News. Our hard-working staff is selected on the basis of their camp skills, love of people, and sense of responsibility.
The waterfront program is carefully supervised by Red Cross Water Safety Instructors. Registered nurses are on 24-hour duty at the camp. A pediatrician's office is adjacent to the campgrounds, and there are two excellent hospitals on-Cape.

Optional trips are available to campers for an additional fee. On vehicles owned by the camp, the young people are taken to places of historic interest. After you register, you will receive more details and sign-up information by mail.
Optional Transportation
Camp Good News will provide transportation to and from the airport, South Station, and local bus stations for a small, additional fee. The camp staff will meet the arriving camper at the security checkpoint and ensure they board the correct departing plane/bus.
Optional Tutoring
For campers needing extra help in schoolwork, skilled tutors are available to review or make up courses. English lessons are available for our international campers.

BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: YEA Camp is a life-changing camp for worldnchanging teens. Our week long overnight camps are for 12-17 year olds who want to make the world a better place.
Founded in 2009, on the belief that kids are naturally compassionate and want to make a difference in the world. Whether they care about climate change, bulleying, homelessness, animal cruelty, gay rights, all of the above, or another important issue, Campers learn to take action to bring about the change they wish to see in the world.

CAMP LOCATION: YEA Camp Massachusetts is located at beautiful Nature's Classroom, in Charlton, MA - about an hour and a half west of Boston and 3 hours from Manhattan. This beautiful facility is 500 acres on the shore of Prindle Pond and has stunning hiking trails.

CAMP FACILITIES: We stay in really nice modern buildings and dorm style rooms, each with two bunk beds. Each room has its own private bathroom with sink and shower. There is electricity, hot water, and all the basics.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: YEA Camp is a unique and inspiring leadership summer camp for youth 12-17 who care about community service, activism and social justice. A week-long sleep-away program in a beautiful camp location, YEA is designed to be a fun and transformative experience that builds life-long friendships between youth with similar interests. Our program also provides a meaningful opportunity for campers to learn more about some of the issues facing our planet and to get inspired and empowered to take action on those issues.
Campers choose an issue of importance to them (for example, some have chosen climate change, racism, homophobia, homelessness, animal rights) and at YEA they build the knowledge, skills, confidence, and community to take action on that issue long after camp is over. Youth who have participated in our programs report that the camp was one of the most fun, rewarding and life-changing experiences they have had, and, with YEA's community support, have gone on to start school clubs, plan fundraisers for nonprofits, organize community clean-ups, and attend hearings to comment about important community issues.

The JCC inclusion camp weeks:
June 24 - June 28, July 1 - 5 (with no camp on July 4), August 5 - 9, and August 12 - 16 are for campers who have success in a partial or full inclusive environment with supports.
The staffing ratio plan is for 2 inclusion campers to one staff member. Campers will receive daily swim instruction, participate in cooperative games, crafts projects, build social skills and learn self advocacy
techniques. An intake and interview are required prior to registration. Inclusion campers that require a 1:1 must provide their own or pay an additional fee.
The special needs department will run a substantially separate camp August 19 - 23.
CAMP INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES OFFERED:

CAMP LOCATION: We are located on the property of the Springfield JCC with a beautiful outdoor and indoor facility, including a pool, ropes course, field, and archery range.
AVAILABLE CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Youth who are eager to learn, develop and enhance their leadership skills in the camp setting, apply to be C.I.T.s. These future counselors train in daily sessions: covering many areas such as effective listening, peer relationships, role modeling and programming.
C.I.T.s work with different age groups learning developmental stages and finding their preferred age group. As a group project, the C.I.T.s will plan and implement a camp-wide carnival.
The C.I.T. program includes a 5-day, 4-night recreational trip to Club Getaway in Kent, CT, from July 15 - July 19. Teens will bond as a group and enjoy boating, rock climbing, group challenge activities, trapeze, giant swing and evening socials. Each applicant is interviewed after registering.

CAMP FACILITIES: We have outdoor picnic groves, outdoor tennis and basketball courts, a baseball diamond and soccer field. Through the woods there is a high and low ropes course and an archery range. Our pool allows us to swim rain or shine, and we have a large gym, several racquetball courts, and an indoor climbing wall.

BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: Sewataro is a dedicated summer day camp rather than a school operating as a summer day camp. The directors work year-round, planning and developing summer programs for campers to enjoy in the great outdoors. Screen time is replaced by time spent in natural surroundings.

Participants attend one four-week session each summer. The program’s objectives are to develop counselors who emphasize learning, fun and safety through a positive work ethic, leadership, and enthusiastic spirit and to provide its participants with a summer of personal growth and enjoyment. It provides a unique opportunity for participants to develop a sense of camaraderie and responsibility.

BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: At Steve & Kate's, we strive to create an environment where children can explore their passions at their own pace -- from music recording and animation, to sports, sewing, and baking. We believe that when campers are given choice and freedom, they learn on a deeper and more meaningful level, gain confidence, and are genuinely happy! Parents love our flexibility in scheduling, as we offer day passes or membership, and drop-off and pick-up can take place anytime within our hours (7:30am-6pm). Food is included and any unused day passes are automatically refunded at the end of the summer.

CAMP LOCATION: Belvoir is located in Lenox, Massachusetts a cultural summer resort area which includes the the Boston Symphony Orchestra at Tanglewood, Shakespeare and Company and the Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival. It is just three hours from New york City and two hours from Boston with easy transportation from each major city. The Berkshire Hills have been a magnificently beautiful resort area since the nineteenth century.
AVAILABLE CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: The campers have opportunities to learn leadership skills from an early age. Belvoir's program is based on each individual camper's choice. Through this individual programming, each camper is learning leadership skills. Also, various age groups have opportunities to lead part of, or the entire, evening activity. Learning how to work together, come up with a common theme, and structure the event adds to the leadership experience.

CAMP FACILITIES: The main building at Belvoir is a historical mansion built in 1886, one of the Lenox great estates landscaped by Olmstead who created central park in New York City. There are now eighteen buildings on the site including four modern dorms subdivded into bunk rooms, four dancing studios, fifteen art studios, twenty two music studios, five theaters, two pools, six tennis courts, lawns, wooded paths, gardens, and all with a view of the Berkshire hills.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Belvoir is an individualized six week educational summer program with excellent teaching in all program areas. The fifteen MFA art teachers offer small classes in drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, fibers, black and white and digital photography and jewelry. Girls can elect one or many studio classes. The dance faculty teach graded classes of ballet, pointe, modern, jazz and tap. Belvoir has an appropriately challenging and fun dance class for every girl and all dancers enjoy performance opportunities. The large graduate music faculty offer twice weekly music lessons in all instruments and voice. There are opportunities for recitals, chamber music, opera, and orchestra.
Belvoir has a large theater program. Classes are offered in acting, musical theater and Shakespeare, with many large, quality performances in 4 theaters (2 indoor air-conditioned theaters). The department also offers writing, costuming and all aspects of technical theater. Campers enjoy high level sports instruction in tennis, swimming and riding. Archery, volleyball and basketball are also offered at Belvoir. The totally choice program, the supportive welcoming staff and campership make Belvoir a unique opportunity for young women excited about learning in the arts. Belvoir campers learn in their classes, enjoy camp events, parties, evening activities, trip-days, and make life-long friends!

FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): Belvoir offers a Three-Day Family Weekend following the closing of camp.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: YEA is a unique and inspiring leadership summer camp for youth 12-17 who care about community service, activism and social justice. This week-long sleep-away program is designed to be a fun and transforming experience that builds life-long friendships between youth with similar interests. YEA Camp New York will have two concurrent sessions! One session for teens with a variety of causes, and for the first time ever, a separate session for teens interested in animal activism (and what better location than a Farm Animal Sanctuary!).
Our program also provides a meaningful opportunity for campers to learn more about some of the issues facing our planet and to get inspired and empowered to take action on those issues. Campers choose an issue of importance to them (for example, some have chosen climate change, racism, homophobia, homelessness, animal rights) and at YEA they build the knowledge, skills, confidence, and community to take action on that issue long after camp is over. Youth who have participated in our programs report that the camp was one of the most fun, rewarding and life-changing experiences they have had, and, with YEA's community support, have gone on to start school clubs, plan fundraisers for nonprofits, organize community clean-ups, and attend hearings to comment about important community issues.

1) Youth Academy - Designed for boys and girls ages 6-10. Fun, exciting and engaging activities are all part of the week. We do this with individual and small group activities with the introduction of fun technical exercises and games that are engaging and pertinent for the age group and ability level. With our unique curriculum youth players will be exposed to the proper technique such as shooting, dribbling, 1v1, crossing and much more.
2) Junior Academy - Designed for boys & girls, goalkeepers and field players ages 10-13. The program has been designed to build a foundation that will help the participant’s progress to the next level. This will be accomplished in a fun, entertaining and positive environment. Each session will be progressive in nature and will conclude with a relative small-sided game that will highlight the topic of the session. Throughout the week, players will be put in a competitive environment that will bring out their very best. The 125 acre campus is just the right size, large enough to seem expansive and small enough so that you never feel lost. Views of nearby Mount Tom, a small footbridge crossing the pond, green lawns at sunset; all these details add to the pleasure of daily living and practicing sports at World Sports Camp.
AVAILABLE CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: C.I.T.'s (Camper In Training) This is a true leadership program at World Sports Camp. These campers must be 16 years of age and all but one period of each day, they will follow the normal camp schedule. During that one period, the CIT’s will shadow a coach to learn about the different coaching techniques. By the end of their stay at World Sports Camp, each CIT camper will develop a lesson for an entire period and will teach their lesson to the campers, as if they were the Head Coach!! They will have the help of the other coaches, but this will allow the CIT's to get out of their comfort zone and try something new.
As well, we have a dedicated CIT counselor who will evaluate each CIT at the end of each week to let each CIT know what they have done well and what needs improvement. In addition, because of their dedication and hard work we take all of the CIT's on a CIT trip. We allow the CIT’s to decide what this will be. For example, this past year, we went to mini-golf, laser tag, a movie and dinner off the campus as their trip of choice.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The World Sports Camp mission is to create a safe and positive sports environment, where children from around the world, ages 8 through 16, can interact while improving their athletic skills. (Basketball, Soccer, Tennis, Golf) This is accomplished through positive reinforcement coaching, with skill level training, from high level, skilled coaches and counselors. World Sports Camp allows for campers to choose which sports and to what degree they will be involved.

We believe that "camp" creates a novel and secure learning environment in which campers feel safe to try new skills, think on their feet, see the opposing view, and to trust their teammates. Campers repeatedly inform us of how successful their academic experiences are - after Debate Camp, largely because they felt emboldened and confident in their ability to engage in discourse on subjects they felt unsure about only weeks previous. " I learned so much" is the most consistent feedback we get.
We feel that debating is not an elite skill for competition purposes only. Nor is it something that should be oversold / overcharged for the purpose of enhancing the college application process. We believe that to have advocacy skills, an ability with rhetoric, an ability to effectively organize one's thoughts, an ability to listen and be heard and to honour one's opponents with effective points and counter-points, are skills that all kids should develop.
As such, we annually review our fee scale to ensure we remain within reach of as many families as possible. We continue to work on funding and recruitment structures so that we may continue to remove barriers to enrichment education.
Moreover, we remain about training in the area of verbal advocacy; to stand, speak and be heard - an area requiring continued attention at a time when digital means provide so many alternatives to this. In the generation of the smart phone, of potentially less human-to-human conversation over substantial matters, what we teach is even more coveted...

Debate Camp successfully completed the ACA 18 month accreditation process in 2021. This process included a thorough documentation and policy review of Debate Camp's Operation Manual and training materials. In 2021, an ACA site visitor visited in-person camp locations to observe camp operations and ensure the highest of facility standards at two of our American Debate Camp locations (as exemplars of our program in all regions)

CAMP FACILITIES: College and university campuses deliver an at college experience for your child with technologically equipped classrooms, and inviting, landscaped outdoor spaces. We embrace the outdoors whether it is to launch rockets, build bridges, loose trebuchets, explore coastal waters, whale watch, model the inner solar system, use telescopes, play team games, collect samples, make observations, or operate a hydraulic machine.

Our camps are tailored to all skill levels, whether you’re just starting out your explorations or you already know you’re way around creepers. We start by introducing campers to Redstone, a special kind of element that mimics electricity almost perfectly. Campers of nearly any skill level can have fun building circuit boards, and even making a very simple computer inside Minecraft. As they master Redstone skills, we offer challenges that teach key concepts in programming, design, electrical engineering, and architecture, all while using teamwork and social skills. It’s the perfect blend of fun, learning, and creativity.

CAMP FACILITIES: The Bridge Center offers a 20+ acres of open space for your child to enjoy playing on our accessible playground, participate in various sports activities on our recreation field, baseball field or basketball court. The Bridge Center also has an indoor gym space, large accessible swimming pool, splash pad, pond and waterfront access, nature trails, an up to date building designed for cooking, music, arts and crafts and other various activities. BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: Music on the Hill (MOTH) is a 1, 2, or 3-week chamber music program offering a well-rounded curriculum of ensembles, musicianship classes, electives, and private lessons. MOTH students play in two chamber ensembles, weekly solo recitals, and the MOTH orchestra, and can explore new genres of music through jazz and fiddle electives. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: YEA Camp is a unique and inspiring leadership summer camp for youth 12-17 who care about community service, activism and social justice. A week-long sleep-away program in a beautiful camp location, YEA is designed to be a fun and transformative experience that builds life-long friendships between youth with similar interests. Our program also provides a meaningful opportunity for campers to learn more about some of the issues facing our planet and to get inspired and empowered to take action on those issues.
Campers choose an issue of importance to them (for example, some have chosen climate change, racism, homophobia, homelessness, animal rights) and at YEA they build the knowledge, skills, confidence, and community to take action on that issue long after camp is over. Youth who have participated in our programs report that the camp was one of the most fun, rewarding and life-changing experiences they have had, and, with YEA's community support, have gone on to start school clubs, plan fundraisers for nonprofits, organize community clean-ups, and attend hearings to comment about important community issues.

CAMP FACILITIES: We have a year-round Education Center with grounds that include wildflower gardens and a backyard for play and a birding view over the salt marshes around us. The Center has a touch-tank with tidepool wildlife during the summer, and has classrooms for camp use.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO:
Our 5-day themed sessions give campers the opportunity to learn more about their natural surroundings – from insects to arachnids, birds to mammals, ocean to river, and meadow to marsh. Our Explorer and Trekker day camp sessions for ages 6 to 11 run from 8:30am to 3:00pm. Weekly field trips provide full ecosystem immersion. Small group sizes ensure a welcoming, supportive environment. We also offer an after camp option until 5:00pm for all sessions
Nature-Questers, our new day camp for ages 11 to 13, brings pre-teen campers farther outdoors with daily field trips, field ecology projects, paddling trips, and an overnight at Joppa Flats. The daily schedule runs from 8:30am-3:30pm.
Joppa Flats Summer Camp is the perfect program for children with an interest in and curiosity about nature. Campers ages 6 to 13 have fun and make friends as they discover local habitats and wildlife. Our days are filled with hands-on, place-based activities, such as wildlife tracking, orienteering, and nature art; games and cooperative challenges; and nature engineering projects. Multiple field trips each week provide full ecosystem immersion for an enhanced camp experience, while small group sizes ensure that campers stay safe and engaged.
Camp staff members are carefully selected for their maturity, caring attitude towards children, and competence in the fields of natural history, outdoor education, and leadership. All staff must pass background checks and receive training in safety, child development, and nature study. The camp director, in addition to having extensive camp and outdoor school experience, is certified in Wilderness First Aid, CPR/First Aid/AED, and Canoe Safety and Rescue.
CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Limited camp scholarships are available. We provide financial assistance based on demonstrated economic need and available funds. This is generally limited to one session per child; however all applications are considered. AVAILABLE CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Counselors in Training (CITs), for boys and girls entering grade 10, learn the tools necessary to become counselors at Grossman Camp, while building personal leadership and communication skills, doing community service work, and participating in Maccabiah, a summer-long, lightly competitive activity that includes athletic and non-athletic challenges. CITs are assigned work with groups of campers, under supervision, in addition to their own recreational activities and skill sessions. Most Grossman Camp Junior Counselors are graduates of the CIT program.

CAMP FACILITIES: Grossman Camp is located on 75 acres in the Hale Reservation in Westwood, Massachusetts. This natural, rustic setting affords many opportunities to observe and learn from the environment as we go about the camp day. Grossman’s modern, well-maintained facilities include:

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Grossman campers have varying interests and abilities, and at camp they have lots of choices.
Once they arrive, boys and girls participate in the program at a pace appropriate to their age. As they mature, they have more elective choices. Everyone receives Red Cross-approved instructional swim and participates in free swim under the supervision of trained instructors and lifeguards.
Leadership:
Stuart Silverman, Assistant Vice President, Camping Services
Stuart Silverman directs JCC Grossman Camp and also oversees JCC Camp Kingswood and JCC Kaleidoscope Creative Arts + Science Camp. He began his career at Grossman in 1977 as a counselor, then moved on to Unit Head and Assistant Director before being promoted to the Director position in 1990. Stuart retired as a veteran guidance counselor at Lexington High School in 2009 to devote himself full time to the JCC camps. He received a BA in History from The George Washington University; a Masters in Guidance and Counseling from Springfield College; and an MA in Educational Administration from Boston College.
Sue Green, Assistant Director of Camping Services
Sue Green has been at Grossman for more than 25 summers; during the cooler months she works in the JCC Camping Services office and is also responsible for the JCC School Vacation Programs. At camp, she supervises the Lower Camp, the Kehillah Unit, and Jewish programming. In addition, Sue teaches hebrew school at Temple Emanuel. She received her BA's in Sociology and Education from Clark University and an MSW from Boston College. A Jewish educator at heart, she spent many years as the principal of a synagogue religious school.
Leslie Hochstein, Assistant Director
Leslie Hochstein has been at Grossman since 2007 when she started as a Unit Head. In 2009 she was promoted to Specialist Supervisor and in 2011 Leslie joined the JCC year-round as the Coordinator of Special Events and Recruiting for JCC Camping Services before becoming an Assistant Director in 2012. Leslie now supervises Intermediate Village and the Kibbutz program, as well as all of the camp Specialists. She is also responsible for coordinating Empow Workshop at the JCC. Prior to working at Grossman, Leslie stayed home with her young children after retiring from her first career as a criminal defense trial attorney with The Legal Aid Society in Brooklyn, New York. She received a BA in Politics from Mount Holyoke College and a JD from Boston College.
David Wolf, Assistant Director
David Wolf joined the Grossman staff in 1983 and currently oversees Upper Camp. He is often better known as "Mr. Maccabiah". In the off-season, he works at the Solomon Schechter Day School in Newton, where he teaches fifth grade and is the head of the Intermediate Division. He received a BA from Trinity College.
Sharon Lane, Transportation Director and Business Manager of Camping Services
Sharon Lane joined the summer Grossman staff in 2009. In 2012 she became Assistant Director of Transportation and then assumed the position of Director of Transportation in 2013. In addition, she joined the JCC year round as Business Manager of Camping Services in the fall of 2012. She received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from UMass, Amherst and an MBA from Bentley University.
Diane Saltzberg, Special Needs Director
Diane Saltzberg has been involved in camping for more than 25 years, and has been Special Needs Director at Grossman for more than 15 summers. Diane retired from the Weston Public Schools after 40 years as a School Adjustment Counselor and more recently retired from Striar Hebrew Academy in Sharon. In the off-season she is taking some well deserved time off.
Josh Shapiro, Waterfront Director
Josh Shapiro has overseen the Grossman waterfront for more than 40 summers. When he’s not swimming, Josh teaches seventh grade at the Dexter School in Brookline.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Wingate*Kirkland is a nurturing, coed, day and overnight camp where children are inspired and empowered with a choice of daily activities; indeed a traditional camp in many ways, staying true to old fashioned values. And like it was nearly 60 years ago, Camp W*K is not a “plugged in” camp. Children feel supported and confident to step out of their comfort-zone and try new things without the fear of failure. CAMP FACILITIES: Lawrence Academy is a private boarding high school that offers summer programs. The campus has a swimming pool, 12 tennis courts, 3 indoor basketball courts, 8 athletic fields, a theater, dining hall, and numerous indoor air conditioned spaces. Summer programs are open to ages 3.5-17.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The 100-acre Lawrence Academy campus provides the setting for over 30 day camp offerings for children entering grades K–12 and an overnight English, Mandarin, Spanish, and French immersion program for American and international students. Summer Programs at Lawrence Academy are divided into three types: Day Camp, Specialty Camps, and Sports Camps. We offer nine one-week camp sessions beginning June 22, and ending August 21, 2015 for children entering Kindergarten through grade 12. BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: Moving Leaders Forward's Overnight Retreat has been designed in collaboration with The Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health in Stockbridge, MA. This experience is geared toward rising 10th, 11th and 12th grade girls. The goal of this program is to equip campers with leadership skills, knowledge and the self-confidence needed to help them develop into strong future leaders.

CAMP FACILITIES: At 200 feet, the Oliver Hazard Perry is the first ocean-going full-rigged ship to be built in the U.S. in over 100 years. It is the largest civilian sail training vessel in America. She has berths for 49 people overnight, and with 17 crew, a low camper to crew ratio creates a safe and fun environment. The ship is equipped with a steel hull, 3 masts, with square sails on all three masts, 20 sails totaling 14,000 square feet, and 7 miles of rope and wire. The engines run on a bio-diesel blend, and the ship is equipped with a modern galley (on-board kitchen), central air, an on-deck science lab, a library and wheel-chair accessibility above and below decks.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: With 17 professional crew and a capacity for 30-34 campers, our program promotes a dynamic and safe learning environment with a 2:1 ratio of campers to instructors. Campers will feel the thrill of steering a 500-ton ship, and learn to work the yards and sails while exploring the beautiful coasts of New England. They will learn safety at sea and perform important safety drills while acquiring skills in navigation, seamanship, sail handling, knots, and the language of the boat. Campers will explore the underwater world through snorkeling. They will understand wind, waves, tides and the ecology of sandy and rocky seashores. Sunsets, sunrises and the night sky will serve as the backdrop for this incredible experience, in addition to marine phosphorescence, dolphins and whales. Teamwork is an integral part of success onboard the boat, and in addition to learning about themselves, and achieving things they never imagined, they will make friendships to last a lifetime.

AVAILABLE CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: The Counselor-in-Training program at Brimmer and May will provide an opportunity for students entering ninth and tenth grade to teach and work with younger campers as apprentice counselors while learning the ropes. CITs (also known as Campers-in-Transition) are under the supervision and direction of experienced professional staff. CITs will get an opportunity to work with each age group, and when appropriate, be asked to lead activities. Weekly meetings provide feedback and guidance throughout the summer.
CIT applicants must be available for the full camp day (8:15-4:15 p.m.) and can select either a full summer (all 8 weeks of the program) or either of two four-week sessions (first or second half of summer). CIT's are also required to attend pre-camp staff orientation.

Our goal is to enrich your child's summer experience through play, success, and engagement with other children and with our committed staff. All of our Head Counselors and Specialty Counselors are over 21 years old and most specialize in early childhood education and development. Every day each child from 3 to 10 years old will do a variety of activities: Music, Arts and Crafts, Sports and Games, Drama, Lego, Clay, Nature, Swimming.
Every child at Brimmer and May Day Camp swims every day in our heated pool and no one needs to come to camp knowing how to swim. We will teach your child how to swim!
Our Specialty Programs are taught by Brimmer and May faculty who have designed their program to enhance your child's summer learning in a creative way. They will be encouraged to attempt new things, test themselves and learn new stuff! They will get an hour of free swim in our heated pool every day.

Games come in all shapes, sizes, complexity, and feeling. In this camp students will start by learning how to think about game design and game flow, working through idea, prototype, and finally making a full game that they made and can play with their family and friends. 3D Design in Blender
This class will teach you how to create an amazing 3D character in Blender! This class will focus on how to create your own characters in blender that can be used for any game you might use! We will focus on modeling, rigging, and rendering your character.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Drama Camp is run and instructed by Amy Kimball, who has worked in the summer camp setting for 32 summers. She directed Summer Camp for 20 summers. Amy is an experienced Clown, Mime, Performer, Director, Certified Teacher and has had every role at camp from counselor to unit head to specialist to Director. Amy has her BA in Education and has directed over 15 theatrical productions over the years. She will be working with help from a talented staff of performers who have expertise in singing and acting. Our outdoor amphitheater is set in the pines, and 11 tennis courts are set in the mountains.
Our lake accommodates waterskiing, wake boarding, sailing, windsurfing, swimming, and an inflatable obstacle course. The lodge has a stage for all theatrical performances, as well as a movie theater and all purpose facility for the entire camp.

Instructors share in all camp activities including the supervision of campers’ health and safety; teach nature-based activities, communication with camp staff and parents, and supervision of high-school aged volunteers. Staff works cooperatively to create age-appropriate lessons, games and crafts.
Qualifications: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age or have two years camp experience in a leadership role. Have experience and/or training focused on providing care for young children and teaching outdoors with children ages 4 to 5 years old. Have an interest and general knowledge of natural history and enjoy being with children. Have the ability to lead groups over rough terrain. Must be able to work both cooperatively and independently. Current certification in Red Cross Community CPR and First Aid or an equivalent current certification is required (training opportunities provided).
Schedule: Training begins June 9, 2020 (some flexibility may be granted). Camp runs Monday-Friday June 22- August 21 (some flexibility may be granted).
Benefits: Earn from $14.00 – $14.20 per hour depending on experience. No housing available.

AVAILABLE CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: The CIT program provides an opportunity for teens and young adults to experience camp and receive leadership guidance and training, while acting as volunteer assistants to day camp counselors. This program is for youth ages 15-17 who are interested in learning about leadership and working with children. Teenagers are invited to experience the fun, stress, and rewards of camp as they assist Stony Brook Camp Counselors. CITs are expected to participate in the overall planning and implementation of weekly activities such as crafts, nature projects, camp songs and games. Our CIT’s Learn valuable job training and leadership skills as they work side by side with Counselors. The responsibilities given to CITs will help sculpt them into responsible adults and future stewards of our community.
CIT’s are looked up to and admired by campers. It is expected that our CIT’s will be enthusiastic about everything that they participate in and lead. CIT’s must set the example for the rest of camp—campers watch what CIT’s do. It is expected that a CIT will lead by example! CIT’s will not have sole responsibility for campers. The CIT’s will have the opportunity to help lead campers, but they will be supervised by staff at all times.

CAMP FACILITIES: The sanctuary encompasses 245 acres of forest, field, and wetland habitats, each offering exciting opportunities for nature exploration. The 2 miles of trails on the sanctuary include a scenic boardwalk across a pond and marsh, and a trail for the visually impaired. Indoors, the visitor center contains displays on various natural history topics, program space, and a gift shop with nature-oriented items.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Stony Brook Day Camp gives children the chance to do what comes naturally—explore! Weekly sessions have campers ages 3–15 discovering our wildlife sanctuary’s forest, fields, and wetlands. Trail explorations, hands–on activities, games, crafts, and more provide full ecosystem immersion for an enhanced learning experience, while small group sizes ensure a welcoming, supportive environment.

Campers at Stony Brook have the opportunity to investigate four varied habitats - pond, wetland, field, and forest as they form friendships that last a lifetime. Through a combination of outdoor investigations, non-competitive games, crafts and other activities, campers use the sanctuary as a living laboratory where they can observe and enjoy numerous plants and animals. They become young naturalists as they begin to identify wildlife species; junior scientists while critically thinking about environmental problems and solutions; and amateur ecologists predicting where they might find salamanders on a hot day.
Campers can attend multiple weeks without repetition and are encouraged to do so. Each session has a theme, and each week features different age-appropriate activities ensuring that each session is a unique experience. Children who return year after year achieve new levels of confidence and natural history proficiency.
Our staff’s enthusiasm for the natural world is contagious and quickly spreads to the campers. Marla Cohen has been camp director since 2002. A majority of the counselors are undergraduate students majoring in education or environmental science and are selected for their maturity and experience working with children in outdoor settings. This combination of youth and experience generates a highly motivated and vibrant atmosphere.
All camp staff are trained in First Aid and CPR. Prior to the beginning of camp, all staff participate in a week-long training session that includes program preparation and health and safety guidelines.
As an ACA-accredited camp, Stony Brook Camp meets both the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and American Camp Association standards for its program, staffing, counselor/camper ratios, health and safety policies, site and facilities, and administration.

OTHER CAMP INFO: Each session has a different theme to investigate. Age-appropriate activities deepen each camper’s knowledge and awareness as he/she returns throughout the summer and over the years.
All sessions except Discoverers are full day from 9:00am - 3:30pm. Campers can attend multiple weeks without repetition and are encouraged to do so. Discoverers sessions are half day from 9:00am - 12:00pm. Before camp care is available selected weeks from 8:00am -9:00am.
